A SHORT AND SIMPLE PRACTICE FOR SELF-COMPASSION

This exercise comes from Elisha Goldstein, a leader in the field of Mindfulness. I like to refer my clients to some of his practices when they need the strength and care to make the changes they desire.

The Practice:

Today, look for moments that are hard in some way, emotionally difficult, or stressful.
When you notice them, take a few deep breaths, acknowledge the difficulty and then ask yourself what you need.

Make a plan to move in the direction of this need whether it's calm, ease, strength, love, or whatever arises.

Do this over and again and realize this tender gift of self-reliance.
